Lapu-Lapu City will conduct “Sweeper rapid testing”, Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan, announced this during the blessing and opening of the City’s isolation facility in Lapu-Lapu City College. “Sweeper, murag manilhig ta’g balik sa mga barangay ug sitio nga wala maigo,” mayor said. City Health testing teams will return and test again barangays, and their sitios and puroks who had a fewer number of residents who volunteered to be tested. He said this is the scientific way of getting samples in sitios and puroks to get the health status in that particular place.

“Ang tanang mamaligya sa sari-sari store, mamaligya sa mercado which is ma-expose kaayo, ato silang gi-require to have this test,” the mayor said. Sweeper rapid testing schedule according to Grace Carungay, the head of the testing team, will be on the following: Saturday in Olango island barangays of Sta Rosa, San Vicente, Sabang, which will be held in Barangay Sta Rosa Gym.

They will also test on this day barangays Tingo, Talima, Caw-oy, Baring, Tungasan, and to be held in Mini Hoops Dome. Also on Saturday Barangay Gun-ob will be tested beside Mahayahay Cockpit. Marigondon, Subabasbas, Canjulao will also be tested on this day. The venue will be in their respective barangays. Then on Sunday sweeper rapid testing will be conducted in the following barangays Pusok, Buaya, Babag, Agus, Calawisan.

Then on Monday, the last day, sweeper rapid testing will be done in barangays Basak, Pajac, and Looc. Carungay said there may be some additional barangays especially those who had fewer residents who participated in the strategic rapid tests. “Kadtong wala (not tested) pwede mo moadto sa maong barangay para magpa test, pagtabang sa syudad, pagpakita sa kinatibuk-an nga hitsura sa syudad mahitungod aning COVID-19,” mayor said. The mayor reminded everyone to continue wearing their mask, washing their hands, and maintaining social distancing.

“Padayon nato ang atong kooperasyon, ug disiplina, kay tan-aw nako disiplina ra gyud ang kinahanglan nato aron mabuntog nato ang COVID-19,” Mayor Ahong said. “Padayon nato ang atong panaghiusa, padayon ang atong pag tinabangay, padayon ang atong pag-ampo sa atong mahal na Birhen sa Regla ug balaang Bata Senor Sto Nino,” is the mayor’s message to all. As of Friday barangays Punta Engano, Caubian, Pangan-an, Ibo, and Pajo were able to test more than their target residents.

Barangay Caohagan tested 100 percent of its target number of residents. Another 14 barangays had more than half of their target number of residents tested; while 10 other barangays fared below 50 percent of their target number of residents tested. PIO
